Rushforth Road 100 ML Reservoir

The 100 ML reservoir is located within the Rushforth Road Water Treatment Plant. It is a “turkey’s nest” style dam constructed in 1985 built by excavating to weathered rock and shaped with selected materials with a clay lining. The internal floors and embankment walls were constructed of reinforced concrete, with internal and external walls constructed using 1 in 3 & 1 in 2.5 slopes respectively.

Raw water is sourced from either the Nymboida River or Shannon Creek Dam and treated to meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. This is achieved by stabilising the water with lime and carbon dioxide and fed to the 100 ML reservoir before it is disinfected through chloramination  (chlorine + ammonia) and fluoridation. The water is then transferred to the reticulation system to up to 50,000 customers in the Waterview Heights, Eatonsville and Seelands, Maclean, Lawrence, Yamba, Iluka, Junction Hill, Ulmarra, Grafton and other rural areas.
