Student Work Experience

Work experience - Koen Croft

Clarence Valley Council provides unpaid work experience for students who are currently studying at secondary and tertiary levels. These placements are a great opportunity to learn from our staff and gain new skills and on-the-job experience, while exploring possible career opportunities.

We aim to provide all applicants with meaningful work experience in their preferred area where possible, however the volume of applications that Council receives means that it may be necessary to decline some applications. All applications will be assessed in terms of timing of the placement, workloads of our employees and the availability of our people in the requested area to mentor and supervise students.

Program duration

Council’s work experience program is offered during Term 2 and Term 4 of the New South Wales school calendar.

  • Participants must be undertaking study at either high school or a tertiary institution (e.g TAFE or university) and be a minimum of 15 years of age at the time of placement
  • Students must provide their own liability insurance to undertake a placement. If they are currently studying, this coverage will normally be provided by the educational institution.
  • We aim to action requests within 14 days from application. If your application is successful, you will be required to undertake a number of online induction modules, including Code of Conduct & Work Health and Safety.
