Adam Cameron - Director Environment & Planning

My team manages everything from landfill operations, environmental sustainability and education programs, environmental health and impact assessments and biosecurity to bush regeneration, ranger services, development control and strategic planning. Even that doesn’t quite cover it all.

To tell you a little bit about myself, my wife and I are both locals, born, raised, and educated in the Clarence Valley. We have three school age children who keep us very busy, along with family in the Grafton and lower Clarence areas.

I started with Council late 2019 and have worked in the executive team since mid 2021. Being part of the community and having the opportunity to make a positive impact was what attracted me to Clarence Valley Council. What keeps me here is our dedicated team who works hard to deliver results for our community. We live here too.

Most of my 25-year career has been devoted to leadership roles in land use planning, and the development and environmental impact assessment of major infrastructure including the new Grafton Bridge and sections of the Pacific Highway. My tertiary qualification is a master’s degree in civil engineering.

Here at Clarence Valley Council, we are well on the way to implementing our new structure that was adopted in mid 2021. This will improve community oversight into things that matter to them like the environment, regulatory services and how we efficiently manage and deliver projects.

Top of mind for me is seeing further improvements in the way that we engage our community and stakeholders on what we do, and on local issues that impact them. I am committed to streamlining processes so that doing business with us is easier.
