Jamie Fleeting - Director Works & Civil
I’ve held my position as the Director Works and Civil at Clarence Valley Council since July 2020.
In 2008, I moved from Sydney to Ballina to work on the M1 Ballina Bypass with RMS, now Transport for NSW.
I joined Ballina Shire Council in 2013 as a construction/project manager with a focus on the road network and various community infrastructure projects.
During this time, I developed a broad range of skills and diverse experience working on large scale infrastructure projects. I believe that sound consultation is one of the most important keys to delivering successful outcomes for the community.
This ability to engage with stakeholders and staff across the organisation, developing and maintaining ongoing relationships, drives what I do. I have also developed an appreciation for managing multi-disciplinary based projects with cross collaboration across the various internal departments.
Delivering a $70 million capital works program comes with its challenges, but being part of a team that is motivated to deliver a range of significant projects on behalf of the community makes it happen.
We create shovel-ready projects to ensure that we are well-positioned to take advantage of state and federal grant and stimulus opportunities. This enables us to deliver community projects and improve the local infrastructure.
This is an exciting time for Clarence Valley Council and the community. The M1 has created opportunities in the region and with a newly elected Council we look forward to working with them to deliver positive outcomes for the community.
For me, the greatest asset of our region is the Clarence River. It not only unites the major towns and villages of the Clarence Valley, but also unites the three First Nations communities that fall within our LGA boundary - Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl.
