New CCTV Cameras to be installed in Yamba before Christmas
Published on 20 December 2024
Yamba will continue to thrive as a safe and vibrant community, thanks to the collaborative efforts of NSW Police and Clarence Valley Council to install CCTV cameras throughout the town.
After concerns of anti-social behaviour were raised by the community, Council has moved quickly to install CCTV in key locations of Yamba identified by police.
The CCTV will assist local law enforcement in identifying offenders during investigations and act to deter criminals who have a higher chance of being caught.
The installation builds on the Clarence Valley Crime Prevention Strategy 2023 - 2026, adopted in 2023, which brings together Clarence Valley Council and the Coffs/Clarence Police District to collaborate on crime prevention efforts.
Clarence Valley Council’s General Manager Laura Black expressed her support for this important milestone in the strategy's implementation.
“While CCTV alone cannot prevent crime, it is a valuable tool for law enforcement in the conduct investigations. Crime prevention and community safety are a shared responsibility, requiring the collective efforts of everyone, If You See Something Say Something.”
As the Christmas and summer holiday season approaches, residents and visitors are reminded to secure their cars, homes, and campsites, and keep valuables safe. If you notice any suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour, please report it to the police. In case of an emergency, dial ‘000’ or contact Police Link at 131 444.
