Former Australian Defence Force personnel and current reservists are invited to attend Clarence Valley Council’s Veterans Employment Program Reserves Expo. This event provides a unique opportunity to explore the benefits of working with the Council, gain insight into career opportunities across the Clarence Valley, and receive support for securing local employment.

Local businesses are also encouraged to participate, offering a chance to learn how to tap into a highly skilled talent pool. The expo will highlight how Defence Force experience translates to valuable workplace skills and the support available for employers.

Clarence Valley Council General Manager, Laura Black, highlights the importance of the event for both veterans and local industries.

"Transitioning from military service to civilian employment can present challenges for veterans. This expo is designed to address those challenges, showcase the advantages of working with Council, and highlight the benefits of hiring veterans to employers."

The expo will also feature key stakeholders, including representatives from the NSW Veterans Employment Program, NSW Office for Veterans Affairs, RSL LifeCare, and Defence Reserve Support services.

“With 6,600 highly trained individuals leaving the Australian Defence Force in the 2024 financial year, we want to ensure both veterans and employers understand the wealth of opportunities available and the support that exists, particularly with Clarence Valley Council,” Ms. Black added.

The Veterans Employment Program Reserves Expo will take place on Wednesday, 6 November 2024, at the Grafton Army Reserve Depot, 77 Duke Street.

The event will begin with an Employer Session from 9:00am to 12:00pm, followed by a Veterans and Reservists Session from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
