Clarence Valley Council (CVC) in partnership with Living Lab Northern Rivers held a free Community House Raising Workshop on Thursday 4 April 2024.

The workshop was designed to assist anyone considering raising their home – old or new – to protect themselves from future floods, with the goal to help our community think through the critical issues in order to make their project truly successful.

Participants were able to ask questions of staff from the Living Lab Northern Rivers, CVC Planning and Building team and Recovery Officers as well as James Davidson Architects and a NSW Reconstruction Authority Case Manager learning of opportunities and challenges they may encounter when raising a house.

Clarence Valley Council Manager Development and Land Use Planning, Murray Lane said the event was a great success.

“The Living Lab event was informative, enjoyable and well attended, especially considering the wet weather we received that week”.

“Raising your house above likely future flood levels has its benefits. You’ll be protecting your family, your property and personal belongings while also avoiding the financial and emotional impacts of having your home damaged by flood.”
