Yamba’s CBD will be transformed thanks to a $400k grant as part of the NSW Government’s Community Improvement District Pilot Program, which is helping the local community and businesses to make the most of their open public spaces and local character to attract more visitors and make the CBD more vibrant, day and night.

Through this program, the NSW Government is committed to empowering businesses and communities to revitalise their own local centres across both metropolitan and regional areas. Community Improvement Districts provide a platform for businesses and communities to work together, stimulating local economies and boosting the overall attractiveness of these areas.

Clarence Valley Council’s General Manager, Laura Black said the pilot program will establish a community engagement model providing the opportunity for Council to strengthen relationships with stakeholders to deliver enhancements and activities that support sustainable economic growth and revitalisation of Yamba’s CBD.

“We’re excited to collaborate with local businesses, Yamba Chamber of Commerce, and community members commencing with a Stakeholder Summit in the coming months where ideas for enhancements are shared and plans for delivery are made to increase visitation rates and provide an attractive and safe destination for CBD visitors and users alike.”

“The pilot program provides us with the opportunity to deliver both physical and non-physical improvements such as district brand and vision, use of smart technology and outdoor furniture, public art, lighting, and urban greening culminating in a Yamba CBD event in 2025.”
