Pet Registration
Register your Pet
In NSW, registering your cat or dog is a requirement under the NSW Companions Act 1998. You can register your animal for its lifetime by following these simple steps:
- Microchip your cat or dog by 12 weeks of age, or before being sold or given away (whichever comes first)
- Register your cat or dog prior to 12 weeks of age
- Desex your dog by six months of age and your cat by four months of age for discounted lifetime registration fees
Use your Service NSW log in details to access the NSW Pet Registry and follow the steps to register and pay the fees online.
Register your pet online
Register your pet in person
If you are unable to pay online, you can come into Clarence Valley Council at 50 River Street, Maclean or 2 Prince Street, Grafton for assistance. You must bring all forms (links below) and paperwork showing proof of ownership, microchip number and de-sexing certificate supplied by a vet.
How to transfer pet registration from another State
If you have moved from interstate, use your Service NSW log in credentials to create a NSW Pet Registry profile online. If you are unable to pay online, provide Council with proof of ownership and papers with microchip details e.g. pedigree papers, registered club membership, de-sexing certificate or a vet can verify your microchip (form below). A statutory declaration outlining the circumstances of the sale or proof of ownership may also be required.
